Can we get a Trapper Keeper up in here?! Woot Woot!
Tapping into those back to school vibes and freshly sharpened pencil smell with an Ode to the Grocery Store .99 cent Spiral-bound Notebook
Welcome to The Nibbler by me, Jill Myer, a bi-weekly brief focusing on art, inspiration, creativity, snacks, and joy.
Good morning, my toasted cheese points,
Happy Tuesday!
I spent all last week exploring and playing!
I was on a blissful road trip with one of my very dear friends, whom I don’t get to see very often because she (not I) lives on the wrong coast.
I will share some photos next time, but so you aren’t left with empty promises, here is a sneak peek of my week!
Yes, that is one tree! One giant, fabulous, fantastic, overwhelmingly large tree.

An Ode to the Grocery Store .99 cent Spiral-bound Notebook
I have a shelf where I store my beautiful notebooks, dot grid journals, and sketchbooks.
They have a gorgeous, thick paper that will withstand paint pens, markers, and fountain pens dramatically spilling and sputtering with ink. These pages would even hold court with a dry-brush gouache.
These pages would rather die than let an ink bleed through.
They are bound in gorgeous linens and art -my art, on a few.
Some have ribbons and elastic bands to keep them safe, tucked in, and cozy.
One has ribbons, an elastic band, AND a mother fucking charm!
(Good fucking golly gosh Gladys, get out the fine china the Queen is coming to town!)
In short, they are a stationary girlie's wet dream.
They were supposed to make me feel special.
They were supposed to catapult my thoughts, feelings, brilliant ideas, and dreams into blazing reality.
They were supposed to be magic.
Because honestly, when hasn't new stationery, an adorable set of sticky notes, or a gorgeous new pen not fixed, like everything??!

MY CURRENT FAVORITE SNACK
These are the perfect road trip snacks!
They are crunchy and zesty, fill you up pleasantly, and have a little protein.
That’s a lot of heavy lifting for a bagged snack!
TODAY I LEARNED…
That I can be professional if I must…
Almost.
For like 12 to 20 minutes.
I’ve been doing some consulting work on the side, but please don’t ask which side, as I’m running out of sides to exploit.
We are incredibly proud of Roxy Rose in her new career.
It’s about time she starts paying for some kibble around here.
IN MY STUDIO
You may remember a few (6-8) months ago. I was experimenting with dripping ink on paper before painting to avoid succumbing to perfectionism.
I created a lot of crap, but I also made a few paintings that I quite enjoyed.
I entered one of them into a contest, AND it won…37th place.
I don’t actually know what “place” it took.
It was an editor's pick, which means that despite the votes, the editor liked it enough to include it in their round of choices.
Which is all to say….
You can buy a print of it on the Minted website, and I will get a percentage whoohooo!!!! 🤗
Also, Minted is having a Labor Day sale with 15% off, so that’s nice!
