Welcome to The Nibbler by me, Jill Myer, a bi-weekly brief focusing on art, inspiration, creativity, snacks, and joy.
Good Morning, my Spicy Peanuts,
Happy Tuesday!
Welcome to Week SIX of Roxy and I living in our kitchen which I have converted into a studio apartment.
Recap:
Roxy had a double ACL replacement knee surgery the second week of September (exactly six weeks ago) and due to her surgery she is not supposed to use stairs - we live in a split level home with more levels than the Keebler Elf tree, a spit level that was split one more time for the absolute joy of climbing one more set of stairs.
The architect of this home was clearly in cahoots with Big Staircase Manufacturing & HeHè Your Old Couch Won’t Fit Interior Design, Inc.
Anyway - the only way to make her recovery work was to turn our kitchen into a studio apartment and here we have eaten, slept, cuddled, worked, and sat for SIX weeks. Only two more to go before we go back to the veterinary surgeon for x-rays to see if she can be released for full activity or…sentenced to two more weeks of inactivity.
On the bright side as part of her physical therapy we are going for longer and longer walks each week and as of this week we are up to 3 - 30 min walks a day - it’s nice to be out and stretching our legs.
The other bright spot has been sweet sleepy doggie kisses on the tip of my nose each morning. She’s so delicate and gentile, just a little bloop on the very tip of my nose. She’s such a good girl.
However, as we’ve been cooped up for weeks now I don’t have any new experiences or deep conversational topics to share. The only thing I’m exploring is the toll that boredom takes on a person. so I’m giving myself the week off.
I know that’s counter intuitive - If I’m so bored then maybe I should bang out a blog post or two, but oddly it doesn’t work that way.
Without the stimulation of conversation or experience my brain is just hanging out getting a little more gelatinous each day.
Weeks 1-4, I was much more motivated to find a way to invigorate my senses, but now I’m just in a head down / deep breath / final slog - lets just get through this mode.
The end of the tunnel is near - I’m going to do my best to not mess any of this up for Roxy.
Thankfully she has a few puzzles that seem to be keeping her well entertained.
I sadly, am out of puzzles.
Which is to say this is going to be an extra short Nibbler today!
I know/hope you all understand.
(I didn’t proof read it either)
(OMG I’m going off the rails right now!!)
I did re-write my About Me page on my website - so I’ve got that going for me!

TODAY I LEARNED…
That I can never go to jail.
I used to think I cold live in a tiny house - I was wrong.
Apparently, I REALLY appreciate different rooms.
This has been a good learning experience for me.
IN MY STUDIO
At least we have had access to the garage and I have been cooking up some new work…
Here is a wee little sneak peek of a new painting in the beginning stages!
