Hot Sand, Tiny Shells, & Meaning in the Bottom of a Coconut
Sun-baked, salt-scrubbed, well-read, overfed, sincerely happily contended, and fully rested!
Welcome to The Nibbler by me, Jill Myer, a bi-weekly brief focusing on art, inspiration, creativity, snacks, and joy.
Good MORNING, Nibblers!
Happy Tuesday!
I am coming to you sun-baked, salt-scrubbed, well-read, overfed, sincerely happily contended, and fully rested!
Well.
I was until I stepped off the airplane into the brisk, rainy winds of PDX International Airport and ran smack up against the crushing responsibilities of being an adult.
Woof. It'll knock your flip-flops right off!
But let's dive right into vacation photos and, more importantly, vacation sketches and artistic takeaways because that's much more fun and interesting!

Hot Sand, Tiny Shells, & Meaning in the Bottom of a Coconut
va·ca·tion
/vāˈkāSHən,vəˈkāSHən/
noun
NORTH AMERICAN
An extended period of leisure and recreation, especially one spent away from home or traveling.
There is value in stepping away.
Value in shifting out of daily routines and habits.
It is worthwhile to exchange stories with new people
and to attempt (to the amusement and giggles of all) to speak a foreign language in a foreign country.
There is substance in trying new-to-you foods in new-to-you places, smelling unfamiliar smells, finding treasures, and breathing in the wind from a different direction.
I say all of the above, not necessarily for you, dear reader, unless you need to hear it, but more for me…..
MY FAVORITE SNACK
Coconut water straight from the tree!
TODAY I LEARNED
Sorry!?
What, now?
Quicksand you say??!
A true welcome home from the Oregon Coast.
I sincearly thought quicksand was only in Holywood and fairytales.
Apparetnly there was so much rain while we were away that quicksand developed in areas.
Of course Roxy and I had to go test it out.
We didn’t find any, and we really looked!
Okay, I looked. Roxy found a stick and that checked all ofher boxes.

If you are an adult and don't have an envelope full of cash, I sincerely hope you appreciate the heck out of your new air fryer.
