I'll be the Lady Slathered in Sickly Sweet Coconut Sunscreen in the Sun Chair Over There
The vacation edition of The Nibbler brought to you by damp cocktail umbrellas, fries eaten by the pound seasoned with sand, swimsuit slightly askew, as I lay dead asleep on the beach.
Welcome to The Nibbler by me, Jill Myer, a bi-weekly brief focusing on art, inspiration, creativity, snacks, and joy.
Good MORNING, Nibblers!
Happy Tu tu tu Tuuuuesday!
I am writing to you today from the past because, at this very moment, I am sitting on a beach under an oversized umbrella, wearing a big floppy hat and comically large sunglasses, sipping something fruity and delightful, and holding a trashy novel in the other hand.
We are on vacation!
And like a full sit-down on a sun-chair vacation.
This is not traveling or exploring.
This is - sitting, sleeping, sipping, swimming, snacks on demand, slathered in sunscreen, melting into the crevices of a beach chair - vacation.
Or.
We are hunkered in a hotel room with all the books and tea while the rains come down sideways monsoon style.
I don’t know yet because I’m not actually there, but I will gladly and vehemently accept either reality because I am desperately looking forward to forced relaxation in ways I can’t even describe.
“…But Jill…
…Didn’t you just get a job?
I swear you told us just the other day that you were employed at a place where people are likely expecting you to show up….”
You are not wrong, dear reader.
This vacay has been planned for a solid six months and was part of my employment agreement.
This also means that I don’t have a fresh blog post for you this week, but I will link one of my favorites below.
ON THE BLOG / VLOG
[Reposted from July 3rd]
I have made a discovery, and that is:
I have the patience of a pig in petticoats posing for a portrait on a pier.
Which is to say, none.
I have zero patience.
MY FAVORITE SNACK
Frozen Coconut Mango - anything
I am likely sipping on an assortment of frozen blended bevies this week.
I appreciate this stock photo for making the daydream much classier than it will be.
TODAY I LEARNED
How to get my phone to calm alllll the way down!
Putting my phone in grayscale mode has absolutely made it less of a tempting piece of candy and more of a paperweight/calculator.
I learned the trick from this Newsletter article - scroll about halfway down to the Phone Hacks section.
*If you are a photographer or someone who takes a lot of photos or needs all the colors on your phone at a moment’s notice, I did figure out how to add a shortcut to my Control Panel screen for a quick toggle action, and that is super helpful.
SHOP
I’m out of town until December 12th, but I loaded five new splashy paintings into the gallery right before I left - Pop in and see them if you happen to be in Newport!
I was moving so fast I forgot to take any photos of them, but please believe me when I say I think they are quite lovely.
HAPPY TUESDAY!
