Knowing the Difference Between Eff YOU Money vs. Eff IT Money
Budgeting for, but also learning to accept generosity.
Welcome to The Nibbler by me, Jill Myer, a bi-weekly brief focusing on art, inspiration, creativity, snacks, and joy.
Hello, my Afternoon Tea Dainties,
Happy Tuesday!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the survey from the last Nibbler!
It’s here if you want to refresh your memory or fill it out—it’s only four wee little questions.
Imagine my delight in aggregating the data!! 🤓🤤
If you think you had fun filling out a survey, woohooo, getting survey results is like slipping into a bubble bath on a cold gray day with a good book and a glass of something sparkling—thrilling, delightful, and skin-tingling!
In addition to the joy of looking at graphs, I also appreciate the feedback and the sharing of ideas. It helps so much for me to hear from you about what might be of interest and what fell flat.
While I have one billion ideas a day, I can’t pretend they are all good or worth pursuing, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to, ha!
There was a 55% interest in a printed Nibbler at $10/issue.
25% said OH YES to some guides, and 40% said they would be mildly interested.
What I’m hearing/thinking is that maybe I'll publish a printed Nibbler Care Package Bundle with a guide and some other fun extra bits annually!
There was one idea in there that I hadn’t considered, and it sparked excitement in me. It would check all of my boxes—it can be done from anywhere, there is a low to no cost barrier for me, and everyone can participate as little or as much as they want!
I adore the enthusiasm of weekly, but let’s start with monthly for now and see where it gets us?!
I imagine the format will be a 40-minute Zoom call because I’ll use the free version to start, and collectively, we’ve spent more than enough time on Zoom.
Ten minutes getting settled, saying hello, and discussing our prompt for the evening (it feels like an evening activity, doesn’t it?).
15-20 min journaling/doodling
10-15 min sharing our work or thoughts, having a bit of a chin wag, and then saying goodbye.
Since I’m traveling between MT and CO for the next few weeks, and I’d like to be tucked into my cozy studio for our first call, let’s plan for the end of February.
I’ve penciled Wednesday, February 26th, at 6 pm Pacific time into my calendar. You can add this date to your calendar with the Zoom link by clicking HERE.
I’m excited to get to TALK with you!!!!
Squeeee!

Fuck YOU Money vs. Fuck IT Money
Budgeting for and learning to accept generosity.
I recently discovered a small cache of Christmas money sent to me via Apple Pay.
I don't use Apple Pay often and forgot the money was there.
A few gifts from last year had been dropped into my Apple Pay account, which I had forgotten about.
It wasn't recorded into my budget and, therefore, ceased to exist.
So when I discovered it by accident, I had built up a small fortune, and suddenly, I had money that wasn't budgeted, earmarked, or accounted for.
I had a kid in a candy store money - I had FUCK IT MONEY!!!
Not to be confused with “Fuck You” money which is the money you keep on hand to walk away from any situation that becomes intolerable.
No, no, Fuck IT, money is fun time, good time, party time money!
I was positively drunk on Fuck It money!

MY CURRENT FAVORITE SNACK
I know we discuss this every time I visit MT, but this yogurt might be my favorite thing on earth!
If I were stranded on an island and could only have one food for the rest of my life, I would choose yogurt or tacos. You don’t actually know until you're in the moment with these things.
They call it yogurt but it’s so rich and the cream content is so high, it’s like eating tart whipped cream. It’s that good! Their chocolate milk is also insane and I’d sell a kidney for another pint.
GLIMMER HUNTING…
Roxy is absolutely losing her mind in the snow and these delicious Montana Winter color pallets.

The electric blue of a winter sky in Montana is my all-time favorite color. They call it The Big Sky for reasons.
My heart will forever call this place home.
I love the sun-kissed glow on the trees and mountain sides, the Pyrrole Orange berries, and the sepia-red-brown bark of the trees. I promise it’s as cold as it is gorgeous, but today, I’ll take it!
Tomorrow, I’ll be complaining like an 1820’s sailor with scurvy who’s just run out of ale.
IN MY STUDIO
Roxy and I are on an extended road trip and will be for a while, since I didn’t have to pack light I brought a TUB of ART SUPPLIES with me!
All hail the TUB!

Included in The Tub:
Watercolor paper - smooth and textured, in a range of quality.
Cheap for practice and expensive for a special commission I’m working on.
Sketchbooks and notebooks - Journal, my book of wins in which I record my wins for each month; a sketchbook that I carry in my handbag; a cheap sketchbook for doodling; new mid-priced hard-cover sketchbook for when I’m feeling fancy.
Palettes - gouache, full watercolor, travel mini watercolor palette.
Color pencils, Neopastel II wax pastels, conte crayons, ink pens, water-soluble graphite, a full set of sketching pencils, and a variety of erasers and sharpeners.
