Welcome to The Nibbler by me, Jill Myer, a bi-weekly brief focusing on art, inspiration, creativity, snacks, and joy.
Hello, my Steamed Broccoli Florettes and Honey Glazed Carrots,
Happy Tuesday!
*looks around...*
Are we still pretending to eat healthier in the new year?
No?
Oh, thank goodness!
Pass. The. Cheese. Sauce!!
The one thing I am still committed to in the new year is my word of the year/resolution of “Less.”
But to be precise - I have no fucking clue how I will accomplish less when my brain is an idea machine careening out of control on a tight curve, going 40 billion miles an hour.
It never stops.
I love to start new projects and explore new ideas. I gleefully follow each new idea down the rabbit hole until the next one pops its head out of the dirt and says, “Pay attention to me!!!”
I wake up with ideas.
I go to sleep with ideas.
I have folders and sketchbooks, digital and physical, stuffed with lists of ideas.
ideas for books, children’s and adult
ideas for mixed media projects
ideas for 40 new painting collections
ideas for encaustic sculputre
ideas for giant swaths of flowing fabric printed with wax monoprints
ideas for classes
ideas for a printed Nibbler that I would mail to you each month laden with stickers, cards, or other bits tucked inside
ideas for guides for beginners to start down a path of creativity
ideas for a wholesale line of mini-cards
I have an entire multi-page outline for a greeting card line dedicated to grief
Imagine a hampster on a wheel juiced with enough amphetamines to launch a Clydesdale into orbit.
That is my brain.
It’s a glorious place to live.
So, to buckle my brain into some child safety restraints, I had the idea (I know, I know, it sincerely never stops) (did I tell you I sometimes have trouble sleeping?) to create a survey for you, my most lovely readers—what would you like to see pouring out of this nugget of mine?
Take the survey here ⤵️
The one thing I can do to help me do less is scale back “The Nibbler” a bit. I will continue to publish every other week but only write one blog post monthly.
The blog posts take a lot of time, and their quality will be better if I scale back instead of trying to pump out something deep and meaningful every two weeks.
I’ve only got so much depth.
After all, I am only out here hustling so I can afford to walk by the cheese counter at Whole Foods—lavish and wild dreams, I know!
ON THE BLOG
No new blog today.
I crafted the above survey instead, and I had just as much fun.
Here is the link to the blog post from two weeks ago “The Sun is Never Not Shining”. It was pretty profound if I say so myself!
MY CURRENT FAVORITE SNACK
Roxy and i spent this last weekend in Olypia, WA visiting friends and we went to this extra yummy 100% gluten free bakery The Olympia Baking Co.
The cinnamon roll scone with a drizzle of frosting was delicious!! The bakery music was pumping and the owner is also a delight!
If you are ever in Olypia make the stop if you have time!

GLIMMER HUNTING…
Roxy looking down right petite next to this giant mini pony of a dog, made me giggle so much!
Adding two new ceramic bugs to my entryway menagerie of fish and birds brought me much delight!
The Bugs are by Avie Meadows. You can see more of her work here. It’s so fun!
The Fly’s name is Whilamina, so now all the other critters need names.
IN MY STUDIO
I am so grateful for this gift of a sunny day in my studio with the door wide open and Roxy lying on her hammock in the middle of January!
A typical studio day in January requires many layers, a space heater, and an umbrella to keep the rain out of the paint. This day was stunning!

Mini shop updates are unique, original artworks not offered elsewhere and in extremely limited quantities.
**Paid subscribers receive pre-notice, followed by subscribers, and then the general public.
Today’s Nibbler Mini Update is: ON HOLD.
Roxy and I are on the road this week and for the next FIVE weeks, so there is no shop update today.
Until next time!!
