Puffy Clouds, Gluten-Free Heaven, What is a Nibbler, and Sunscreen that Doesn't Suck Your Will to Live!
What is a Nibbler, and why is it the title of an artist’s Newsletter when snacking has nothing to do with art?
Welcome to The Nibbler by me, Jill Myer, a bi-weekly brief focusing on art, inspiration, creativity, snacks, and joy.
Good morning, Nibblers,
Happy Tuesday!
Welcome to a bushel of new Nibblets!
I appreciate you being here so fucking MUCH!!!!!🤩
Many of our new Nibblets came to us via the Iris Farm festival, which was the most fun!
I can’t tell you how much my face genuinely hurt from smiling, laughing, and talking to so many lovley humans.
Then there were the humans I felt connected with, and I invited them to subscribe to The Nibbler.
Many did, so thank you for the connection and for showing up here to continue the conversation.
I am writing from Boulder, CO, where my husband/man/person/dude is working.
The gluten-free situation here is intoxicating.
I have had more food in the last six days than the previous six weeks combined because there are SO many options and opportunities to stuff my gob with delicious treats!
So if my writing feels a little less jaunty than usual, know it’s because I’m in an utterly hypnotic food coma and as swollen as a tick on a dog napping in a sunny field of tall grass.
We have gotten some good hiking in while snacking, and I have also done some sketches while here.
The clouds in Boulder are so dynamic and juicy!
Let's get to the updates and even more snacks!!

What is a Nibbler?
Since we have so many new Nibblers on board the S.S. Nibbler today, I thought I would spend some time detailing how my newsletter became The Nibbler, what exactly a Nibbler is, and what Nibbling has to do with art.
For our eighth anniversary, I asked my husband for snacks.
I don't want jewelry, presents with bows, or fancy date nights.
I want munchable, crunchable snacks!
The snack closet (pantry) is my safe space.
I love the variety of things people come up with to crunch on.
Who knew that a crunchy wasabi soybean would be so delicious?!
My obsession with snacks began when I discovered it was gluten that was making me oh so very sick.
I had to get creative when shopping since I could no longer go to the grocery store and grab any 'ol thing off the shelf.
Going into stores with GF sections became a pastime.
I like sampling all the options available, finding that some snacks are actual sawdust and wood pulp while others are delectable…

MY FAVORITE SNACK
Snacks, nibbles, and small bites were my fuel as I powered through three days of smiling so hard my face hurt, being on my feet, chatting about art, making silly jokes, running to and from the port-a-potties in between customers, and having the absolute best time ever!
A giant shout out to my Booth Wife, Sister in Spirit, and Roxy’s Auntie, Ella, who packed me a snack bag every morning - I have the best fucking friends!!!
She takes her snacks seriously, and I bow to the snack master!!!
Snacks for the day included:
16oz To-go tumbler of tea
33 oz carton of Coconut water
60 oz of water
One Banana
One apple cut into bite-sized pieces
Grapes
A serving of granola
One container of plain Greek yogurt
Two string cheese
A zip lock of salty mixed nuts
One small bag of dried mango
Zip lock of rice crackers
Three salted caramels (they are super rich; she wasn’t being stingy)
Two fun-sized Almond Joys (but the healthy ones with less sugar, I don’t remember what they are called)
A homemade Yumm! Bowl (rice, black beans, avocado, tomato, cheese, and Yumm Sauce).
The coconut water was the MVP of all the snacks!
I would have died without it.
TODAY I LEARNED
I learned about the most exciting sunscreen I’ve ever experienced.
This is not a paid promotion, but it sure as shit should be because I am one of their most ardent supporters.
I sincerely need everyone to know that a delightful, non-plastic-feeling, non-pore-suffocating, non-Jason in a hockey mask cosplay, non-sticky, non-gooey, non-goopy, non-slimy, non-shiny sunscreen exists.
It feels like butterfly wings, baby kisses, and puppy breath.
It is like a cool pillowcase on a hot day.
A cashmere sweater on a brisk autumn day and the first sip of tea in the morning.
It’s everything good in the world.
My face feels soft, smooth, and moisturized, like that of a 16-year-old.
I wake up excited to put on sunscreen!
I reapply it several times a day gleefully, and am the worst at reapplying because who wants to reapply sticky globs of plastic to their face?!
I’ve tried so many facial sunscreens over the years, from the cheapest to the most expensive, trying to find one that I could stand to wear.
The search is over—this is my gold standard.
I can’t recommend it loudly or obnoxiously enough.
BUY THIS! You will thank me, I’m sure of it!
