Welcome to The Nibbler by me, Jill Myer, a bi-weekly brief focusing on art, inspiration, creativity, snacks, and joy.
Good Morning, my Crunchy Biscuits,
Happy Tuesday!
I had so much fun at the Fall Festival in Corvallis a few weekends ago! The weather was stunning and, and, and…
I walked away with an award 🤩 Best of 2D!!! 🤯
I didn’t promote the fact that I was going to be there because, up until about four days before the event, I wasn’t sure if I would make it.
Roxy was still only a few weeks into her recovery, and I didn’t know if she was going to be well enough for me to disappear for three solid days.
Turns out she’s an absolute trooper and is recovering from her surgery like a total rock star!! Shout out to my husband/man/dude/person for moving heaven and earth to make sure he was available for our girl and allowing me to fully check out.
I’ve been doing my best to rest and relax since the festival and I have to say - I’ve been doing a really good job of it!
Let me show you all the ways!

One of my (many) Toxic Traits
The busier I am the more I think I can do.
Toxic Trait #2: I think things that shouldn't be funny but are, are most definitely even more comical.
For instance, a week or so ago, I was doing prep work for an art fair that was to take place the next day.
Art fair prep looks like I'm having romantic relations with my inkjet printer. I talk sweetly to it, I pay attention to it, I get irrationally angry at it, and I spend every waking second with it. We have long, meaningful, and meandering conversations.
It's a very selfish lover who takes and takes, and then it showers me with gifts—printed cards, art prints, gift tags, and bookmarks.
While having this affair with my inkjet printer, being a ball of stressed-out to-do list and pit stank, I declared that I was also going to make dinner.
Please keep in mind that I am NOT the chef in our household. Before I met Matt, my list of foods was limited to what came out of a box—mostly cereal.
MY CURRENT FAVORITE SNACK
Have we talked about these?
Crunchy, oh so salty, and wildly addictive.
This specific brand is from Trader Joes, but I’ve seen other brands and varieties in the regular store.
I normally don’t let myself buy these because I can eat the whole bag and then my tummy hurts, but for the art fair I decided I needed some extra sturdy CRONCHY-ness.
TODAY I LEARNED…
How to make a Stay-wet palette.
I saw someone using one online - I googled it and of course you can buy one, but a little more Googling and I found a Reddit tutorial on how to make one for myself!
It’s super easy! It’s good for Acrylic, Gouache, and Casein Paints, or any waterbed media.
IN MY STUDIO
My studio has been a post-art fair dump site that has required hours of clean-up and organization.
If I’m being honest, it needed that well before the art fair.
Recently, I turned my studio into a print shop production zone as I set out to fulfill a wholesale order of mini-cards. Wheee!!
This job would have been better suited for indoors, but the sun was out, and Roxy says it’s easier to re-grow pants while lying in the sun.
Who am I to argue with her logic?!
