Roxy and I are home after five weeks of travel, none of which were spent in Mexico or Europe, so that trip was a bit shit.
After so long on the road, I’m struggling to feel fully rested again.
Going to the store and doing laundry feel like unachievable goals, so imagine my absolute delight when I walked into my home to find a pot of flowers, a lovely note, and enough snacks to get me through the next few days!
Color me overwhelmingly grateful.
I have such a beautiful caring and thoughful community!
Tacos aside, Roxy and I saw lots of friends and spent quality time with family, so while there were no street meats or French baguets, it was time well spent.
AND Roxy did so well on a very long road trip, which is remarkable because she has spent most of her life being terrified of car rides.
A LOT of rotisserie chicken, clicker training, and patience on both of our parts has gotten her to the point of loading up and riding around without trembling herself into an anxious puddle of poo juice - such a brave girl!! 💖

My little blue car 🚙 Samatha, deserves a shout-out as well!
She kept us safe and sound on ice, snow, and torrential coastal rain that turned the road into a cold-sweat inducing mirage of water and mist, and I’m super surprised we survived that.

When Living Your Best Life Looks Nothing Like You Thought it Would
A reminder to keep living and to keep dreaming.
My dad has taught me a lot of things.
He taught me to drive ( a stick, no less), and because of him, I can parallel park like a hot-greased ninja.
He insisted I learn to like blue cheese and sauerkraut - although I’m still now sure as to why.
He taught me the value of "Working to Live vs. Living to Work" and the value of being outside long before REI insisted it was a good idea.
He taught me how to balance a checkbook, how to pack a suitcase with the skill of a Tetris zen master, and how to be so cheap that your end up fucking yourself over because the cheap option didn't work, so now you have to rebuy the thing.
It's called “Ken Myer-ing yourself”.
For instance, don't buy hiking boots on double clearance two weeks before an eight-day backcountry trek. You will (I did) buy new full-price boots two days before the trip because the clearance boots will give you blisters.
Recently, my dad taught me another life lesson….
MY CURRENT FAVORITE SNACK
Brilliant road snack!
Tastey, filling, not too sweet, and easy to cram into one’s gob at 80mph.
GLIMMER HUNTING
While we were away, Samantha, needed to get her oil changed.
Waiting was delightful, they even had snacks!

This is Bodie. He spends his day trading bits of muffin for his love and devotion.
IN MY STUDIO
I’ve been playing around with illustrating maps recently.
I aodre maps, they are a lot like calendars - there is something about that them scratches that organizational itch. I made the second one a few months ago to comemorate a super fun road trip my beautiful friend Diane and I took.
