Did You Know You Can Just Do Whatever You Want?!
Alternate Title: The equivalent of four blog posts and a hedgehog in a teacup.
Welcome to The Nibbler by me, Jill Myer, a bi-weekly brief focusing on art, inspiration, creativity, snacks, and joy.
Good morning, Nibblers
Happy Tuesday!
This week on the blog, we are diving back into the emotional depths of being a working artist and continuing the exploration from the last issue as to what it means when the art is no longer joyful - and people can tell.
I also inadvertently uncovered some childhood trauma, so that's in there, too.
- who am I to keep the good stuff to myself?
!!! But before we get to that, I want to give a GIANT shout-out to one Nibbler who signed up to be a paid subscriber!
THANK YOU!
THANK YOU!!
THANK YOU!!!
Receiving the paid subscriber email made my whole week, possibly my month.
- Someone is literally paying me to be ridiculous.
How amazing and wonderful is that?!?
I am so grateful!
So, just putting it out there -
If you enjoy the Nibbler and would like to support me in this way, and your walls are already chock-a-block full of my artwork, you, too, can become a paid supporter of this publication.
That being said, I don’t have a way to honor paid subscribers, so what monthly options would entice you to become or be a treat as a paid subscriber?
A once a month photo dump of all the art I’ve made in the month, no rhyme or reason just all the art!
-OR-
What if I read the Nibbler aloud like a podcast?
-OR-
I’d love to know your thoughts and ideas.
Thank you!!

Did You Know You Can Just Do Whatever You Want?!
I know what you are thinking.
You are thinking, "Jill, we live in 'Merica.
Crippling health care costs and doing what we want is the most American thing ever," And you aren't wrong, but the thing is, I haven't been doing whatever I wanted.
(Yes, yes, I hear it) … In art.
I haven’t been doing whatever I wanted in art.
In other areas of life, haha yes, I do what I want.
Because I want to walk Roxy, read books, make art, and drink tea.
*I’m a simple lady.
Back to art - I've discovered I’ve been adhering to a random set of rules I apparently set out for myself that, best as I can tell, are not based on anything remotely having to do with reality.
Let's go back. I'll explain.

MY FAVORITE SNACK
When your friends go to Hawaii and bring these back - ahh they are the best!
A small tussle broke out in a pantry as Matt and I jostled for the last one. No one was harmed as I successfully crammed it in my face and screamed “Booyah Bitch!”
TODAY I LEARNED
If you add a tiny bit of salt to your tea it helps any bitter taste go away - especially if it’s been over-steeped.
I make tea in the morning in one big thermos and sometimes the bottom cup is a little bitter after sitting for a few hours. A tiny dash of salt helps so much.

All the Flowers!!!
The flower painting in the blog post isn’t on my site yet because, technically, it’s not done, but I do love it, and I want to make more, so stay tuned. If you want one, reply to this email, and I’ll add you to my waiting list.
Encaustic Florals are available in the For ArtSake Gallery here in Newport and on my website!
